In 2006, sisters Laura and Josie Cannone were in Bridal blitz mode, planning a wedding shower for Laura. Unbeknownst to Laura and Josie, this was the beginning of something truly Spa-tacular. In addition to the social activities planned for their guests at the shower, these sisters decided to set-up a spa-themed activity for their little lady guests to partake in. They decided on setting up a “mini- mani table” and “create your own lip gloss craft”. This event station was the talk of the bridal shower and before they knew it they were being asked by relatives to host birthday parties with the same activities. Then and there, in a moment they now call “the glam epiphany,” the inspiration for Glama Gal was born.

After 2 years and hundreds of mobile-at home spa birthday services, Laura and Josie realized it was time to find a permanent home for Glama Gals. In 2008 the Glam Sisters created the first-ever KIDS Spa in Vaughan, Ontario. This 2500 square-foot kids spa and party studio would be host to birthday parties, a full-service spa for walk-in services, and a venue for kids to participate in monthly motivational workshops.

By 2011, the Glama Gals hosted over 5,000 spa parties and painted over 50,000 mini hands and toes. Their methods of entertaining children, providing good quality services and teaching kids that true inner beauty comes from within, was taking the North American kid community by storm. In 2011, sisters Laura and Josie opened the doors to their second location in Durham, Ontario. In 2013, like-minded entrepreneurs approached Laura and Josie about franchising opportunities, prompting the sisters to franchise their first and largest franchised location in Downtown Oakville.

At one point Glama Gal Kids Spa had 9 franchised locations. Currently and due to COVID-19, Glama Gals Kid Spa has 4 open franchised locations across Ontario. Each franchise owner is part of the Glam Family and shares in the same goals and visions for this brand – Be Confident! Be Positive! Be YOU! Recognizing that kids experience societal pressures from peers, television, and social media, Glama Gals cultivates an accepting culture whereby kids are empowered and celebrated for who they are. Glama Gals achieves this goal by offering themed spa services that are all about affirming a child’s positive spirit. With themed services such as the, “BE Unique Party Package” or the, “BE You Spa Day”, every child’s individuality is celebrated.

 

As an award-winning franchise, receiving the honourable PTPA Award (Parent Tested Parent Approved), we currently bring out the best in kids inside and out at 4 locations across Ontario- Vaughan, Ajax, Newmarket, and Toronto-East York.

Since April 2020 we pivoted our model and are now focussing on virtual events, celebrations, kids paint nights and DIY KITS.
